MiKayla is a student at the University of Missouri – Columbia, where she is majoring in Plant Science, emphasizing Plant Breeding and Biotechnology as well as Crop Management. She is also pursuing a minor in Agricultural Economics. MiKayla hopes to become a Crop Consultant and work one on one with farmers to improve their yields. Her current college GPA is 3.37 on a 4.0 scale. MiKayla graduated from Hermann High School with a 4.12 GPA.

Community and Other Activities:
MiKayla has been very involved in the community. She volunteered for St. George Catholic Church’s Smorgasbord, Fish Fries, etc. MiKayla worked the concession stand as well as run the clock for St. George Catholic School’s athletics games. For the Chamber of Commerce, she helped set up judging areas for the Wurstfest as well as other things around the town for the event. Through 4-H, MiKayla has been able to do a lot of community service such as volunteering for the Big Spring Firehouse Chicken Dinners, picking up trash along Hwy K, and volunteering to judge at the Warren County Fair. MiKayla has also been able to help during summer school in the Art Room working one on one with children who need extra help. During the summer after her freshman year in high school, she was able to go to Joplin to help paint the inside and outside of a house as well as clean up the yard from the tornado. This year MiKayla is planning on doing a Community Service Project during CAFNR Week and is wanting to get involved in the City of Columbia as well as on Mizzou’s campus.
Work Activity:
While pursuing her educational degree, MiKayla works part-time as a waitress for approximately 17 hours a week. She also works on the family farm, helping at home and the family business. MiKayla works with cattle (feeding, watering, checking during calving season, medications), fixing fences, moving hay, running tractors and implements, running grain systems, loading semis, cleaning equipment, running errands, and picking up equipment parts, cutting wood, mowing grass, doing laundry and cleaning the house.
