2017 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS


2017 MDTA SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

The Missouri Dump Truckers Association has awarded four $1,000 scholarships for the 2016-2017 collegiate year. The four recipients include: Austin Buchheit, son of Andrea and Donald Buchheit of Foristell; MiKayla Engemann, daughter of Cathy and Tom Engemann, of Rhineland; Eric Hasenjaeger, son of Linda and Darrell Hasenjaeger, of Marthasville; and Luke Hasenjaeger, son of Linda and Darrell Hasenjaeger of Marthasville.


Austin Buchheit is a 2016 graduate of Wright City High School. In the fall, Austin plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla seeking a major in Mechanical Engineering. Austin has aspiration of earning a position with Peterbilt or Caterpillar.


MiKayla Engemann is a 2015 graduate of Hermann High School. MiKayla is currently attending the University of Missouri-Columbia pursuing a Plant Science Major in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology as well as Crop Management and an Agricultural Economics Minor. Her future career plans are to become a Plant Scientist/Geneticist, and hopes to obtain a job with one of the major plant seed companies.


Eric Hasenjaeger is a 2015 graduate of Washington High School. Eric is currently attending the University of Missouri in Columbia. Eric is majoring in Mathematics. He plans to be an actuary.



Luke Hasenjaeger is a 2013 graduate of Washington High School. Since the fall of 2013, he has attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Work Experience:

Austin previously worked at the McDonald’s in Foristell from May 2014 to January 2015; hand crew with BSR Services, Inc. during snow removal in the winter of 2015, and managed a fireworks stand from the summer of 2013 to the present. He also cuts and sells his own firewood.

MIKAYLA ENGEMANN

MiKayla Engemann

MiKayla is a freshman-year student at the University of Missouri – Columbia, where she is majoring in Plant Science in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology as well as Crop Management. She is also pursuing a minor in Agricultural Economics. Her current college GPA is 3.5 out of 4.0. MiKayla graduated from Hermann High School with a 4.12 GPA.

Work Activity:

While pursuing her educational degree, MiKayla works part-time as a waitress for Vintage Restaurant at Stone Hill Winery. She also works on the family farm running and moving equipment, working in the fields, baling hay shred, cultivating, cleaning storage bins, ripping crop fields, running grain wagons, feeding cattle, working cattle, maintaining fences, load semis, cleaning tractors, and farm equipment. She helps cut and split wood for the home wood furnace. She cleans inside and outside of semi-trucks for the family businesses.

ERIC HASENJAEGER

Eric is a student at the University of Missouri – Columbia where he’s majoring in Mathematics. His current college GPA is 3.7.  While a student at Washington High School, Eric achieved a 3.98 GPA. He is persistent and dedicated to doing his best in achieving an outstanding education. He is solely responsible for funding his education.

Work Activity:

Eric worked 30-40 hours per week during the summer at a golf course. Other work activities include cutting grass and snow shoveling at his parents' and grandmother’s homes, helping to butcher, cleaning and waxing trucks, cutting wood, taking care of pets at home, and refereeing 5th and 6th-grade boys’ basketball.

Luke Hasenjaeger

Luke is currently a student at the Missouri University of Science and Technology where he is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is paying independently for his college education. His current college GPA is 3.7. He graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Mo. with a cumulative GPA of 3.94.

Work Experience:

Luke worked in the Parker-Hennifin Sparlan Division from May 2015 to January 2016. He also worked as a dump truck driver and truck maintenance for Hasenjaeger Trucking, Inc. from 2011 to 2014. From 2008 to 2013, he cut gross and provided lawn care services.
